Hydrochloric acid (HCl) is a highly corrosive mineral acid and one of the most commonly used acids in industry. Due to its properties, hydrochloric acid is used in many industrial and chemical applications, for example in the production of chlorine and other inorganic compounds, for metal treatment and in chemical analysis.

Areas of application

Hydrochloric acid is used for a variety of industrial processes including:

Pickling Steel: Hydrochloric acid is used in pickling, which removes impurities from steel. The acid is used to remove the oxide layer from the surface of the steel, leaving a clean surface for further processing.
